Reidunn Rugland is an artist and works with glass as her main material.

Through material exploration, repurposing, and a near meditative process of repetition, she transforms the discarded and the commonplace into fantastical objects and playful environments that give us permission to explore our ambiguous relationship to nature, to others, and to ourselves.

Her universe is simultaneously sexualised, provocative, vulnerable and with a certain humour.

The forms that she obtains allow her to consider the body and its objectified in an infinitely personal manner.

Born in Bryne in 1961, grown up in Brusand, Norway, Rugland went to France in 1981 and studied sculpture at l’Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Aix en Provence from 1981-1986, where she explored the material intelligence of glass.

She established her own studio in 1986 in Biot, France, in the Cirva Studio which were available for the students from the art school and in Grenoble in 1990.

Over the course of her career, she have been bought by Her Majesty the Queen Sonja of Norway, The Company Philips Petroleum and Paola Martelli, Italian art collectionneur.

Rugland has also collaborated with the architect group Link Arkitektur , with her permanent installation  of Glass Sculptures in «The Silent Room»in Frøyland-Orstad Church, Norway.

My vision of the world…

My view of the world is sometimes a poetic expression, sometimes nostalgic for what was, but often an uncomfortable look at what is…
