Frøyland-Orstad Church Norway

In 2007, Signature Architectes commissioned me to create a permanent installation in pâte de verre for a contemplative space within the church. The theme was to be light. So I created a project in two parts. The first part consisted of angel wings, lit from behind, symbolising divine light, and a wing-shaped table. The whole was inspired by the legend ‘Les Pas dans le Sable’, a poem published anonymously in 1964. This installation was revealed to the public when the church was consecrated in December 2008.
The second part, created in 2012, is entitled ‘Let the Children Come to Me’, a title taken from the Bible verse Lukas 18.16: ‘Let the children come to me. Do not hinder them, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’.
(The second part was realised together with Georges Stahl a specialist in pâte de verre)
